TASTING NOTES
Balanced with just the right amount of acidity and fruit, this
Pinot Noir boasts alluring aromas of crushed pomegranate,
fresh cherry, graham cracker and thyme. Flavors on the palate
showcase sweetened cranberry, tart raspberry, vanilla cream
and hints of blood orange. The finish is intriguing and complex
with herbal notes framed by nutmeg and vanilla.
WINEMAKER NOTES
One of the earliest vintage to date, 2016 provided even heat
during late July and early August which brought on early
ripening to Pinot Noir grapes. A majority of the Pinot Noir
was sourced from two vineyards on the northern part of Lodi
that approaches the Sierra Foothills. The Clarksburg Pinot Noir
portion comes from the Pierson Lambert Vineyard, which is
just west of Lodi in the Sacramento Delta. A healthy portion
of Barbera from Paso Robles and Lodi was blended in to add a
touch of plum fruit and acidity. Small amounts of Valdigue and
Zinfandel round out the blend to add light spice and provide
an aromatic lift. The result of this blend is a fruit forward and
balanced Pinot Noir with complex layers.
FOOD PAIRINGS
This Pinot Noir would pair well with a lighter dish such as
roasted chicken served over mashed potatoes with rosemary au
jus. It would also pair wonderfully with pan-roasted vegetables
over brown rice topped with shaved pecorino cheese.
