TASTING NOTES
The aromas are reminiscent of boysenberries and black raspberry with subtle hints of tobacco and summer plum. The entry to the palate starts with flavors of sweet boysenberry pie filling, blueberry jam, tart cherry, toasted coconut and muddled mint leaf. On the long and sustaining finish, dark plum flavors round out the mouth feel giving way to herbs, blackstrap molasses and a hint of dried apricot.

WINEMAKER NOTES
An excellent vintage for California Merlot, the summer was warm but excluded long heat spells which is normally seen in the region. This weather gave way for our Merlot to have an ample amount of hang time for flavor development. Sourced from both warm and cool climate regions, nuances from both are showcased. Warm climate sources include central Lodi vineyards as well as the Central Valley, which added flavors of plum and boysenberry. Mendocino County and Clarksburg provided the cool climate structured Merlot with complex herbal notes and a minty essence. To round out the blend, a small amount of Lodi Cabernet Sauvignon, Clarksburg Petite Sirah, and Lodi Zinfandel were added to provide structure and fruit forward flavors.

FOOD PAIRINGS
This Merlot would pair wonderfully with seared steak tips with a side of mashed potatoes and red eye gravy or a lamb burger topped with feta cheese and grilled onions.
