TASTING NOTES
The aromas are reminiscent of fresh summer plum, wild strawberry and lavender blossom with hints of crushed purple basil. The palate starts with flavors of bright Bing cherry, tart strawberry, vanilla bean and light cardamom. On the finish, plum flavors dominate with hints of raspberry, sweet dried cranberry and rich French oak notes of vanilla and nutmeg.

WINEMAKER NOTES
This vintage was a very good year for California Pinot Noir. The summer was warm but didn’t have heat spells, which bodes well for cool climate varietals. The Pinor Noir grapes in this blend are from the eastern edges of the San Francisco Bay Area, along with Lodi vineyards near the Sierra Foothills, plus Clarksburg and Napa Carneros. Last but definitely not least, a small percentage of the blend is Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir. A touch of Barbera from Paso Robles and Grenache from Lodi add a touch of plum fruit, warm spice and rich backbone. The sum of these parts makes a beautiful, fruit forward wine with complex edges and balance.

FOOD PAIRINGS
This would pair wonderfully with grilled salmon over wild rice, mushroom risotto topped with a couple of seared scallops, or a Margherita pizza.
